If you’re like me, then – from time to time – you find yourself reflecting on tales you heard when you were younger. Sometimes, it’s the story about how your grandparents met. Maybe it’s the fable about the mouse and the lion. Or, it might be your favorite fairy tale. It’s great when you replay these stories in your mind, or even when you read them in a book…but it’s even better when you actually can see them brought to life! Today, we’re doing just that: using the beloved Snow White fairy tale as inspiration for a colorful, whimsical wedding styled shoot. Take a peek!
This take on the classic tale artfully incorporates the details of the story – mirrors, apples, the dwarfs, the colors – and applies them to a wintry (AKA “snowy!”) wedding. Pittsburgh wedding professionals Ashley Broskey of AB Occasion Design and Krystal Healy of Krystal Healy Photography, along with other area event vendors, collaborated on this concept in celebration of the 77th anniversary of the Disney film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Ashley elaborated,
[Krystal and I] are both drawn to the beauty, magic, and elegance of the Disney style and feel. Imagining happily ever after is something all brides and grooms do, so why not create a wedding styled shoot centered on the first and most memorable Disney princess Snow White? Many directors have recreated this well-loved fairy tale, yet the original story created by Walt Disney will always hold a special place in our hearts. The original story of Snow White, and the 2012 release of Snow White and the Huntsman (a twist to the fairy tale princess), served as the inspiration for our winter styled shoot.
Each of the Disney princesses has an iconic look, and Snow White is no different. The blue, red, and yellow of her dress…the red apples…and the mirror and winter woodsy-feel served as our muse for this timeless and romantic story. [The shoot was] hosted at the Fieldstone Barn located at Armstrong Farms, [which] showcased just the right amount of elegance and edginess truly fit for a princess.
I wanted to keep the bold colors of Snow White from the original movie in the shoot without making it feel too much like a little girl’s birthday party. To complement the bold colors, I paired aspects of silver and white into the design to bring in the winter feel. I think a lot of people are afraid to go bold and make a statement with a theme, and this shoot shows that you can make a statement [that’s] not overdone, [where] every aspect complements each other perfectly.
